In partnership with Genesee & Wyoming Inc. (G&W) and Camco Technologies, the Bentley Compton team was thrilled to see Camco Technologies' coverage of our work delivering on G&W’s £25 million operating and digital transformation.
From building the business case to managing a UK-wide roll-out of an end-to-end automated logistic solution; through this project, we worked to successfully connect the dots between vision and execution for G&W, surpassing expectations on the company’s largest technology investment to date.
A prominent rail-centric logistics franchise in the UK, under the guidance of Craig Compton, the collaboration between G&W and the cutting-edge technology of Camco Technologies has reshaped and optimised rail logistics.
G&W initially came to Bentley Compton with a dream. A dream to achieve an average 30-minute turnaround time, gate-to-gate, at all of its UK-based facilities. Following an exhaustive 12-month study to assess the existing opportunities, Bentley Compton developed a strategy that would address congestion, embrace automation, and position G&W to handle increasing freight volume in the future. In short, positioning G&W’s operations at the forefront of the logistics industry.
A £25million investment plan was pitched, and secured - the largest in G&W’s history. With a proactive and creative approach to collaboration, Bentley Compton was key to the success of this investment.
Playing a critical role in the functionality of systems and the alignment of teams to champion shared goals, not only was this transformational project delivered on time, but under budget and exceeding expectations, and all while navigating a global pandemic.
Working together with the G&W team, Bentley Compton worked to deliver an end-to-end automated logistic solution maximising the efficiency of G&W’s assets, cutting turnaround time in half across 3,500 daily appointments at G&W’s 12 UK-based terminals, significantly reducing carbon emissions and streamlining operations to increase efficiencies across the board.
The potential that the delivery of this groundbreaking project now holds is unfathomable, aligning with Craig’s view on future trends as he sees a future where standardised processes and predictive analytics drive unified operations across logistics providers.
